Ascension Trial (Awakening Battle) in AION 2

6 altar towers, 38 difficulty tiers, a death limit and a time limit on every run, one tower a week, and one reward ladder by points.

The Ascension Trial (called the Awakening Battle on some sites) is AION 2's solo, weekly altar-tower mode: 6 towers (Nightmare Altar, Tyrant's Hideout, Sanctum of Loathing, Depository of Fates, Forgotten Repository, Chamber of the Dead), each with difficulty tiers from Easy up. It opens at character level 45. A run has a death limit and a time limit — Easy 5 deaths and 18:00, Challenge 2 deaths and 13:00 — and your final score (10–7,000 points on the reward ladder) decides the rewards. Only one tower pair is in rotation per season, one tower each week.

The six towers

The game's own names and descriptions. Death Limit and Time Limit are the game's labels (Dungeon.DeathLimit and ProcessStateHoldingTime, in seconds); the Item Level is what the dungeon list asks for. Tiers marked “not open yet” are in the client but their entrance asks for a character level above the cap.

Nightmare Altar

An altar where sleepless souls give nightmares as offerings. Defeat the twisted army of nightmares and the evil spell-cursed horde, and rule over this forbidden realm.

Which tower is open each week

Source: SeasonContents → SeasonPickupContents → SeasonPeriodContents. One tower each week, changing at the weekly reset (stored as 16:00 — the client keeps no time zone; on the Global servers that is 16:00 Korean time, like the reset). The “Dungeon Debuffs” are applied to the whole dungeon from start to finish (the game's tooltip).

The client stores 16 weeks so far (seasons 1 and 2); later seasons name their towers and debuff but not their weeks.

The reward ladder by points

Rewards will be issued depending on the final score upon completion. One ladder for every tower, every tier and both factions (RewardDungeon rows by score; the data build stops if a tower or faction differs). “N or more” = the final score you reach.

How the score works

The game's own text; the client holds no scoring formula or per-kill points for these dungeons, so none is printed.

Be sure to pay attention to which Dungeon Debuffs are applied.

The quicker you finish, and the fewer your deaths, the higher your score will be.

A higher final score grants better rewards.

To earn the best rewards, try challenging higher difficulties.

Destroying the Void Helicoids that appear can aid your progress.

Ranks are determined based on the highest points recorded during the season. In the case of matching scores, the higher rank will be granted to the player with the highest accumulated Rank Points. Ranks and point record are reset with every new season.

Ascension Trial FAQ

What is the Ascension Trial (Awakening Battle) in AION 2?

A weekly solo game mode. Ascension Trial can be accessed through [Main Menu] - [Ascension Trial]. Ascension Trial is a time trial game mode where you improve your rank through repeated play. It operates on a seasonal basis, with different content available each week. You can receive seasonal rewards based on your season rank.

What are the six Ascension Trial towers?

Nightmare Altar, Tyrant's Hideout, Sanctum of Loathing, Depository of Fates, Forgotten Repository, Chamber of the Dead. Each has 6–7 difficulty tiers in the client; Forgotten Repository and Chamber of the Dead also have a Doom tier.

What are the death limit and time limit?

They tighten with every tier: Easy 5 deaths and 18:00, Normal 3 deaths and 16:00, Hard 2 deaths and 14:00, and every later tier allows 2 deaths with ever shorter clocks (down to 7:00).

What is the highest reward in the Ascension Trial?

7,000 points on the shared ladder. Rewards will be issued depending on the final score upon completion. The ladder is the same for every tower and for both factions.

Which tower is open this week?

One tower a week, alternating inside a season: season 1 (2026-09-30 to 2026-12-16) uses Nightmare Altar and Sanctum of Loathing. The rotation table on this page marks the current week.

Can I play the Insane, Hell and Doom tiers?

Not yet in this client: the Insane, Hell, Doom tiers ask for character level 99 on their entrance, above the level cap of 45, so they are listed but not open.

Data: client 2.0.6.0 hotfix 1 (Steam build 25800038, 2026-10-09). See also Nightmare, the other solo tower mode, and the weekly checklist.
