Chance per kill counts equipment packages too (package chance × the item's weight inside). In 10 kills = 1 − (1 − chance)¹⁰; avg. kills = 1 ÷ chance; kills for 90% = ln(0.1) ÷ ln(1 − chance), rounded up.

Chances are read from the chest's tables: an entry comes up with its chance (BoxReward Prob, out of 10,000), then draws from its package — one item per draw by weight (RewardPackageItem, out of 100,000,000). Per opening = chance of getting the item at least once, 1 − (1 − p)^draws multiplied over the entries that can give it: our calculation, assuming draws are independent. The game does not show these odds.
