Since ancient times, Spiritmasters have harnessed elemental power through contracts made with Spirits.
However, if one violates the contract and uses the Spirit as a sacrifice, the backlash of power may cause them to fall into corruption.
The form of altered Spirit magic is commonly referred to as Scarlotus.
This form of dark magic is highly dangerous.
It enables spells used to resurrect the dead,
or to severe a persons soul from their body.
These are fundamentally different from traditional forms of Daeva magic.
In fact, it is more akin to alchemy.
Materials required for such magic are equally unpleasant, including such morbid items as human corpses, Daeva apparitions, or the bodies of Daeva whose souls have been severed.
It remains unclear who first discovered or used this magic.
Whispers pass between Daeva but lack much substance, and while some claim a book recording this magic exists somewhere, no one has ever seen it.
