The Ascension Artifact is the Core of AION; the Core and source of all power in Atreia itself.
The Core of AION is a medium through which a new AION can be made, by gathering the Fragments of AION scattered around the world.
In theory, the now-scattered power of the slain Empyrean Lords can be combined with the Artifact to return the world to its original, unadulterated state.
Although AION's strength has been lost to the chaos and empty void, using the Artifact—AION's core—could restore this power.
With this hypothesis, one can surmise that restoring Atreia and its Odyle is a possible endeavor.
