We never ceased waging war against the Elyos. Our sole purpose was to win eternal glory for Asmodae. Yet, consumed by a conflict that seemed without end, we failed to notice AION's strength fading with each passing day.
The Empyrean Lords, however, saw the truth. They foresaw history repeating itself: the fall of AION Tower and another Balaur invasion. All agreed that once the tower collapsed, the barrier protecting the world would be shattered, and a new one would have to be raised.
Such a feat would require the combined power of the Asmodian and Elyos Empyrean Lords. Yet the new barrier could shield only one land, either Asmodae or Elysea, but never both.
The Asmodian Empyrean Lords refused to yield or bargain with the Elyos. Why should they surrender even a fragment of Asmodae to preserve Elysea? Neither cooperation nor compromise seemed possible. Again and again, the Empyrean Lords met in hopes of reaching an accord, only for every negotiation to end in failure. The Elyos refused to make concessions until the very end.
As these futile talks dragged on, the war in the Abyss grew ever more violent, culminating in the outbreak of the Last War. This cataclysm would ultimately bring about the complete collapse of the AION Tower.
