Baison: Now for the information I promised.

Baison: Kochi and his Shugo have been fighting to keep control over the Tolbas Forest, until eventually he got fed up and hired us.

Baison: But Astin had his own plans from the start. Nothing good can come from getting caught up in a quarrel between Cogni.

Baison: So he was trying to stall for time by demanding more supplies and higher contract fees before running away.

Luteros: So it was one big scam.

Phernos: Is that all you have for us?

Baison: There's a cave nearby where Astin meets his clients. He probably met the Shugo there too.

Baison: Astin is probably involved in Kochi's kidnapping. He's always pushing his scams too far.

Caelid: Luteros. Tell Bao everything we've found out so far. Phernos, ‹your name›, let's head for that cave.

Step 2 · 1 line

Astin is not here. You must find Jade.

Step 3 · 4 lines

Jade: Dare to show your face again, eh? You're looking for the captain?

Jade: Why would I tell you? If you're not here to hire us, get out my face.

Caelid: This is testing my patience. How can we find out where Astin has gone?

Caelid: Let's get back to Bao and Luteros for now.

Step 4 · 6 lines

Bao: I heard everything, nyerk! We've been betrayed! Mark my words, Astin will pay for this, nyerk!

Bao: Where has that scoundrel gotten to? We need to teach him a lesson!

Caelid: Stay calm. There's no solid proof yet. We'll need to capture him red-handed.

Caelid: We found a document detailing an upcoming trade, so let's ambush them at the scene.

Bao: Sounds good to me, nyerk! In the meantime, can you clear out the treacherous mercenaries nearby? They've been stealing our merchandise, nyerk!

Bao: I'll have to lead the merchant company in Kochi's absence, nyerk! Get us back our merchandise!

Step 6 · 4 lines

Bao: Back already, nyerk? Yes, these look like our goods! Thank you, nyerk!

Bao: Nyerk? You want to know where your comrades went?

Bao: They rushed off saying it was time for the trade. You can meet them at the Illicit Trade Spot entrance, nyerk. Be quick!

Bao: I'll be at the Eastern Shugo Station. Be careful, and come find me when you're done, nyerk!

Turning in · 1 line

Caelid: Ah, you're here.

When it is done

"We found a document detailing an upcoming trade, so let's ambush them at the scene." According to Baison, Astin never intended to get involved in the power struggle between the Shugo and Aullaeu, and most of the trades took place in the Night Dew Cave. However, all you found in the cave were Shugo corpses, remnants of what appeared to be Aullaeu sorcery, and records of another unknown transaction. Astin was not merely trying to squeeze extra money out of Kochi, he had been conspiring with the Aullaeu on a much deeper scheme. You found a document in the cave suggesting a rendezvous between the Aullaeu and Astin, and an ambush was hastily planned for the appointed time.
